Key Visa Changes You Should Know:

Changes to the Student Visa (Subclass 500)

The Student Visa Application Charge (VAC) for primary applicants will go up from $1,600 to $2,000 on July 1, 2025.

🔹 The Australian government’s goal is to make the foreign education sector more honest, and this move fits with that goal. When you apply for a new student visa, you need to include this extra amount in your budget.

The income limits for skilled visas have been raised

The Department of Home Affairs has changed the income limits for skilled visa streams. These are

The TSMIT (Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold) went up from $73,150 to $76,515.

They lifted the Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) from $135,000 to $141,210.

🔹 These changes have an effect on applications for nomination for:

    • Subclass 482: Temporary Skill Shortage
    • Subclass 186: The Employer Nomination Scheme
    • Subclass 494 (Regional Skilled Employer Sponsored)
    • Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme)

Please note that these increases only apply to new applications made on or after July 1, 2025.

Humanitarian and Pacific Engagement Visas

People applying for a Subclass 202 visa or a refugee visa must now fill out their applications online through ImmiAccount.

You can sign up for the Pacific Engagement Visa (Subclass 192) Treaty Stream until July 18, 2025. The results of the ballot will be published on July 25, 2025.
